On January 26, 1905, something extraordinary happened at the South African Diamond Mine. The weight of this “extraordinary” was no less than 3 106 carats. The world’s largest diamond was named Cullinan in honor of the owner of the mine, Thomas Cullin. They say that the guest of King Edward VII fainted when he struck the stone with a decisive blow.
Acquaintance with the new project of FoodFund International in Dubai, the steakhouse The Cullinan at the Marsa Al Arab hotel, may well have a similar effect. We warned you.
History of The Cullinan
Costa Tomazos discovered his first steak house in South Africa. Thus began the path of the family business, which eventually led the restaurant group to international fame. Now in the collection of the group there are more than 14 restaurants around the world – from Kenya and Greece to the UAE. In the Middle East, the FoodFund team set foot more than 20 years ago during this time, having managed to open Clay on Bluewaters, San and Loren on the West Beach Palm Jumeirah and the network of Greek Eat Greek snacks in almost all the malls of the city, and in March launched a new project with a focus on steak culture – like in the good old ones. The Callinan logo with the initials of the founding father and the year of his birth, 1947, reflects this path. The visual code for the most part consists of South African bestiary labor: giraffes, stretching the neck to a glass of wine, or zebras, walking along the savannah with a lovely rider.
As we said, FoodFund is a family affair. The team of the restaurant group has more than 1 100 people, many of whom have worked in it for decades, and Johnny, the son of Costa Tomazos, takes the position of SEO. So the continuity and respect for traditions here come to the fore.
